Can Gratitude Make You Richer?

How Far Can Gratitude Take You?

I realized the other day that I completely forgot some of the really exciting things that were currently happening in my life.

WHY?

Because I was so focused on what I didn’t have and what wasn’t working in my life rather than what was. Coming to the conclusion that everything was broken had set in. Life sucked at that point

Until I took a step back and said to myself: “What is working, what do I have?”

The challenge was that “reality” was so different. Here is what I forgot about:

  1. My wife and I had free tickets to the Cubs vs Sox in 2 days
  2. I was hosting a networking event that night with 75+ people registered
  3. I had just landed one of the largest clients I had ever landed that day

Wow! Did my “reality” change immediately. I was energized, fulfilled and completely happy. It released all the stress and anxiety I had and helped me move into a place of gratitude.  What that turned into over the next few days was a mindset and energy that found me 4 new perspective clients and a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

I imagine what would of happened if I would not have taken a step back and stepped into a place of gratitude to “see” all the things I already have.

So, I challenge you to be in a state of gratitude. Because you will:

See more opportunity

Have more happiness

Feel more confident

Find more wealth

Live life to it’s fullest

I’ll end with this quote:

If a fellow isn’t thankful for what he’s got, he isn’t likely to be thankful for what he’s going to get.  ~Frank A. Clark

  1. Such an important point made here! We may feel gratitude on occasion but how do we stay in a constant state of gratitude. Daily reminders, touchstones, surounding ourselves personally and professionally with people who live in gratitude makes a huge difference for me. It’s what we’ve built our company on. Richer doesn’t just mean financial wealth either. Kim W.

    Bryan,

This might be my longest comment to date for you. Gratitude does make you richer. Period!
